After we returned from our vacation in Tunisia we had to paint our house on the second and the third floor. For that we rented scaffolding. After we were done, the cats were allowed outside again and our Baba wanted to be a “builder” and climbed on the scaffolding.
Well the Rangsdorf show weekend is over. It was a long but a good weekend. First of all the show was a good one. It is not to big and not to small. We decided to go only on Saturday and Sunday and leave the Friday as is. After the long drive we think it’s better to give the cat some time to get accustomed to his temporary home. On Saturday we had Steven Savant, Linda Kay Ashley, Lisette de Landtsheer, Harley DeVilbiss and Pascal Remy as judges. On Sunday we had the same judges except for Harley DeVilbiss. Instead of Harley we had Jean-Marc Lagarde.
All judges judged our Poly on both days and we also got compliments on him. The best compliment came from Harley who said that Baba would have a good chance in the standard Maine Coon ring. And that’s obviously our (long term) purpose.
The advantage of the show in Rangsdorf is that when the show day is over you can have a little walk outside and have a look on the Weihnachtsmarkt. Friday was a bit empty, but the Saturday was really crowded.
By the way, what we noticed is that there is a relatively large number of Bengals at the show. It looks like Bengals are progressing towards the next Hype.
First two are done now. First we had to go to Pascal Remy and secondly we had to go to Harvey DeVilbiss. Obviously we had two firsts ;-).
Harvey said he liked Baba a lot and that he looked like a Maine Coon should look like.
In Harvey’s opinion Baba would also do very well in a regular Maine Coon ring. We think that is a very nice compliment.
Today we do not have a specific subject for our blog. There are a number of things we want to mention anyway.
We start of with the good news. As already mentioned we got the last room in the show hotel in Rangsdorf and are going with two cats. Baba and Red Ice have the honor to enter. So one poly and one non-poly.
There is a bit of not so good news to. The lady we saw some time ago and were considering as an addition to our cattery is not coming to live with us. There were some very good reasons for that, but we will not put them publicly on the internet.
Furthermore, we already mentioned that Charlotte is not pregnant. That did not stop her from adopting some “kittens”. She has now two kittens. One is our Kitty and the other one is Kaneeltje. As you can see on the picture she is very dedicated.
Charlotte and kittens
The last subject is our Savanna. She is still running around, despite of her condition. And she also is a bit spoiled ;-). She lookes really good though, even with her lazy relaxed ears ;-).
As our Banshee is already very very old we decided to make a post here with 4 generations of cats. All 4 generations are living with us in our home.
The 4 cats in the line up are :
Dynamicats Banshee, born February 10 1998 and therefore 13 years and 7 months old,
Vaskebjorns Feme, born July 20 2002 and therefore 9 years and 2 months old,
Vaskebjorns Layla P, born December 1 2007 and she is 3 years and 10 months old,
and finally Vaskebjorns Babangida P, born January 14 2010 and he is therefore 1 years and 8 months old.
As already said, Banshee is very old and you can see that in everything. She sleeps all day and you have to bring her her food. She can not be bothered anymore by walking over to the food and she likes to eat undisturbed by other cats. When a cat (or dog) are nearing their end we have a saying that says “Christmas is far away” and in Banshee’s case Christmas is very far away.
After posting all kind of pictures of our new male, one would almost forget that we also have another boy in our cattery. Baba is a very nice poly boy (we think). He has good looks and also very beautiful feet ;-).
In the future (when he is ready) we will also have him available selectively for very good looking coon ladies ;-).
We arrived at the hotel in Frankfurt after a 4 hours drive. Fortunately we did not have a lot of problems with the traffic. Only 10km of traffic jam.
Arriving at the hotel the soap started.
After the check-in we went to our room to find out that it had two single beds and was very small. We went down again and got another room, just to find out that it was a smoking room. So that was a trip down again to get the keys for our third room. That room was reasonable and had a normal bed.
We had to wait a bit before the blankets and the towels were delivered. After that it was time to go down and have a drink. The dry white wine was not really a problem, but the whiskey was more of a problem. Naming the whole list just showed that they were out of them … 😦
I ended up drinking my own 😉
After that we had some dinner and a lot of “cat” people and judges were coming in.
Now we are at our room put some powder in Baba’s tail and are preparing for tomorrow. Fortunately we do not have to come in to early ;-), nine was just about fine. So we have time to have a good breakfast.
