Today is a very special day at our place. we have to celebrate three birthdays/
First of all, we have Lady Zayra of the three Turnips (Zayra). She became 11 years old today.
Secondly (and third) we have the two sisters Vaskebjorns Fleur du Cap and Vaskebjorns Svannah P. Both became two years old today/ Especially Savannah is a surprise as she is suffering from Tetralogy of Fallot and was not supposed to get old. This was discovered when we had a heartscan with 9 weeks for her because our vet heard a heart murmur. At the moment she is trying to set the record 😉
Good evening everyone, Today we went to Nicole & Coen of the Three Turnips to have a look at the little Weimaraner puppies. They are absolutely gorgeous and we took a lot of pictures of the sleepy heads 😉
As you might know we had two Weimaraners (lady Xena of the Three Turnips and Lady Zayra of the Three Turnips). Unfortunately Xena died of bone cancer. As we are always keeping an eye on Weimaraner news we also learned that The Three Turnips have puppies ;-). Coen and Nicole (who took over the Weimaraner breeding from Freek and Anita) have 6 adorable little ones. We are going to have a peek at them soon, but in the meantime ……….
It has been some time that we posted an entry, so we decided to place a post today 😉
And the subject this time is Lady Zayra of the Three Turnips.
Zayra was already nervous for a couple of days because a little present was on its way. Today it arrived and she is finally a complete Diva 😉
Yesterday evening when our Xena wanted to get of the couch, her leg got stuck on one or another way. She obviously had a lot of pain and it was very hard to calm her down. She was really upset.
After a good hour, she relaxed a bit. Nevertheless she wanted to stay close to us. After some time more we were able to put her on the couch so she would be more comfortable.
Later that evening we decided to take her for her evening walk without the other two dogs. Walking was very difficult for her. She could not put weight on her back leg.
During the night we made sure she could not get up the stairs so she would not be able to fall.
This morning she still had problems walking and we decided to go to the vet. After the first examination the vet wanted to take an x-ray.
The outcome was very bad though, Xena had a tumor in her back leg that ate away most of her bone. She was also in a lot of pain. The vet said that she could give her very strong painkillers to get her over the weekend. We then took the decission not to do that.
In our opinion the interest of the dog goes first and we did not want Xena to suffer.
So we decided to let her go, she has deserved her rest without any further suffering.
This grant old lady born on the 4th of June 1999, became 12 years and 8 moths old.
One of our Weimaraners Xena who is 12,5 years old at the moment has a little problem. She is cold all the time, especially when she has to go outside. We found a solution browsing the internet at http://www.forestfleece.co.uk .
This `company` makes custom made jackets for dogs (and cats). We ordered a nice jacket and a couple of days ago the fleece jacket arrived.
