New kid on the block

Hello everyone,

Yesterday we went for a short drive to Frankfurt to have a peek at a possible new lady for our cattery. It took us about 4 hours (including coffee break) so we arrived around one.

We were lucky and were able to park our car on the spot of the disgruntled neighbour 😉

After a short introduction it was time for a delightful lunch. After that it we had time to look at “our” lady and talk a little with Martina and Stefan. After that it was time for cake 😉

Martina baked one herself and it looked like ….

We had to make a close-up of the cake as we already ate half before we thought of taking a picture ;-).

We took a lot of pictures and you all are obviously very curious and therefore now a couple of pictures.

At the end of the day, when we were preparing to drive back home our “new” lady was also preparing. As you can see in the last picture she decided to sit in Anneke’s basket so we could take her with us immediately. Unfortunately Martina did not agree and therefore we now have to wait until November 12. Martina and Stefan will bring her that day 😉

Frankfurt exhibition, the show down

Hello everyone,

The weekend is over and so is the show ;-). After we arrived on Friday, we went to the show on Saturday. We were allowed to come somewhere between 9 and 9.30, which extremely late for “us showpeople”

It turned out there were 8 poly coons. Number 9 did not show up.

The show was a good one, The judges looked good at them and were quiet elaborate in there comments, which I think is a good thing. Unfortunately a number of judges mentioned that if someone shows poly coons, they should look like maine coons and also be prepared as Maine Coons. One lucky thing in this matter is that we bathed our coons extensively as you all read in the previous mail 😉 so they were not talking about us.

One other request was to register as many as possible poly coons in TICA and besides that there should also be as many as possible poly coons on shows. Well and as we all know, that could improve a bit. We go to a lot of shows all over Europe, maybe we can get some accomplices. The number of poly coons is mostly very limited, besides ours.

Well and the finally the results.

Frankfurt show, the day before ……

Hello everyone,

We arrived at the hotel in Frankfurt after a 4 hours drive. Fortunately we did not have a lot of problems with the traffic. Only 10km of traffic jam.

Arriving at the hotel the soap started.

After the check-in we went to our room to find out that it had two single beds and was very small. We went down again and got another room, just to find out that it was a smoking room. So that was a trip down again to get the keys for our third room. That room was reasonable and had a normal bed.

We had to wait a bit before the blankets and the towels were delivered. After that it was time to go down and have a drink. The dry white wine was not really a problem, but the whiskey was more of a problem. Naming the whole list just showed that they were out of them … 😦

I ended up drinking my own 😉

After that we had some dinner and a lot of “cat” people and judges were coming in.

Now we are at our room put some powder in Baba’s tail and are preparing for tomorrow. Fortunately we do not have to come in to early ;-), nine was just about fine. So we have time to have a good breakfast.

Talk to you tomorrow….

Preparing for the Frankfurt exhibition – Bathing time

Hello everyone,

The Frankfurt exhibition is coming closer and closer.

That means that our show cats have to take a bath. Both Layla and Baba were completely excited 😉

To give you all an idea of the washingroutine we will shaer our secret washing program.

  1. Special degreasing shampoo out of Denmark (dry)
  2. Flush out the shampoo
  3. The Danish shampoo again but then wet. (in case of Baba a special strong degreasing shampoo because of his stud tail)
  4. Flush out the shampoo
  5. Rinse with Woolite (yes you are reading that correct)
  6. Flush out the Woolite
  7. Conditioner
  8. Flush again
  9. Special shampoo to enhance the color
  10. Flush again and when it looks like the shampoo is gone flush for 5 more minutes

You see it takes some time, but the cat looks very good (normally)

Tomorrow we pack the car and drive to Frankfurt. Amy our catsitter will be here to watch the other cats and walk the dogs for a couple of days. Sunday we are back and know what the result of the washing has been ;-).

By the way, it looks like the hotel has wifi so when the possibility is there we will keep you posted about the results

Preparing for the Frankfurt exhibition

Hello everyone,

just a small update from our cats here in Almere. The weather is not so good today, so the poor ones have to stay inside. They are of course protesting but know the drill in the meantime ;-). Tomorrow and the day after spring will arrive in the Netherlands (accoding to the weatherforecast) and then they allowed to roam in our (fenced) garden.

Baba (Vaskebjorns Babangida P) and Layla (Vaskebjorns Layla P) are also mentally preparing for their next adventure. On the th they are expected to show up in Frankfurt. They will be participating in the Cat-4-Us show.

The judges are :

  •  Kurt Vlach – Austria
  •  Tomoko Vlach – Japan
  •  Jean Marc Lagarde – France
  •  Francesca Gagern – Austria
  •  Katharina Krenn – Austria
  •  Phillipa Homes – UK

We think this is a very nice set of judges and we will see how we will come out. On the first day of the show there will be 8 poly maine coons (so far). Of course we expect all of you to cross your fingers and wish us luck ;-).
