Hello everyone,

Today is a day of remembrance. Exactly a year ago Amerrykoons SimplyRed passed away. We only had him for a very short time due to his sickness but he nevertheless left a everlasting impression. We will never forget him.

In February 2011 when we were in Berlin we went to a little gallery to see if we could get something special. They were selling glass objects and we saw a little glass flask. We Unfortunatelydid not buy it then because we wanted to look to other things to. In October we were also in Berlin and went to the gallery again and now we decided to buy the little flask. As it was still there it had to be destiny.

To be or not to be

pregnant, thats the question.

Although we can not see anything yet, Charlotte is behaving completely different. She is sleeping where she never slept before. She is eating canned food and normally she used to be in a completely different room then the canned food. So the signs are there 😉

So everyone get your calendar out and mark November 20th, because that is her due date.

Today we received the print of Red. He passed away exactly two months ago and we decided to get a huge print of him to hang in our livingroom.

We were already a long time looking for something on the backside of our cupboard and the result is really overwhelming.

Red is home again

Hello everyone,

Yesterday our beloved Red came home again. He was cremated on the 19th at 12:20 (local time). He is now reunited with all of our beloved cats that passed away before him.

We are still looking for a special urn for him.

Hello everyone,

Today is a very sad day. We had to say goodbye to our Red.

The story started 3 months ago. When he came out of the USA he had a cold. We did not think much of that. He had been on the road for a long time. Nevertheless we went to the vet and she described antibiotics. When we were done with the antibiotics the cold was over. We then decided to take him to the show in Salzburg, where he did extremely well. When we came back he again had a cold. A new treatment with antibiotics did the trick. He was growing nicely to over 5 kilo’s. We then decided to give it another try with the show in Hellevoetsluis. After the show he unfortunately did not feel well. He lost 700 gramms in weight. After a week or so he started growing again. Not very fast, but at least growing. Because he was doing ok at that time (as it seemed) we decided to take him to the show in Berlin. He really liked it there, as he did all the shows. Little red loved the attention.

After Berlin, he had a little cold, but we decided not to give him antibiotics. That went reasonably ok. The only “worrying” part was that we did not get him on 5 kilo again. So his weight remained unchanged. Slowly he started eating less and less. From the canned food he only took the sauce part and a couple of meat chuncks.

About a week ago he also started sleeping more and his activity levels also went down. Furthermore his belly got a bit thicker. Anneke was worried about this. Yesterday evening we decided to go to the vet. She proposed to do a blood analysis. Unfortunately that did not work, so we decided to give it another try this morning when the vet had the opportunity to sedate him. After we brought him, the vet took some blood, but also decided to get some fluid out of his belly. This fluid was thick and yellow and she was able to pull strings. This left only one conclusion possible. FIP ………

As I already drove to work, I immidiately returned, picked up Anneke and both drove to the vet. We there decided to let him go.

We will have him cremated and he returns home on Thursday.

This evening, as usual when a cat passes away, we lit our stars.

Show preparations for Rangsdorf

Hello everyone,

The preparations for the TICA show in Rangsdorf (close to Berlin Germany) are at full speed. We take three cats to the show and they are all poly.

The lucky cats are : Vaskebjorns Babangida P (Baba), Vaskebjorns Layla P (Layla) and Amerrykoons SimplyRed P (Red).

The cats have had their baths already. Furthermore we also are backing 2 “prinsjesbroden” 🙂

Both of them are in the oven at the moment and need about 80 minutes. And everyone present at the show can have a taste 🙂

As already mentioned a couple of posts ago, we were at the TICA show in Hellevoetsluis and coincidentally there was also a photographer (Michiel Lebbink of www.poezels.nl).

He took a couple of pictures of our Red and we were very pleased with the result 😉

Hellevoetsluis TICA show, 12 rings

Hi everyone,

Last weekend we had a show in the Netherlands. For this time we decided to stay close to home ;-). Just 133 km.

We drove over on Friday, so it would be more relaxed on Saterday. We could enter on Saterday between 8 and 9, which is a decent time :-).

There  were 6 poly coons at the first day of the show.  and the results were :

Bathing Time for our Maine Coons

Hello everyone,

Today was the day to give our Maine Coons a sponge bath. This weekend Layla, Baba and Red have a show. This time it is not that far as we only have to drive to Hellevoetsluis, which is about 140 km.

But, as already said, when you go to show you have to give the cats a bath and the three of them really like that ;-).

First in row was Baba, second was Red and finally Layla.

They all got the usual treatment and that means 5 different “shampoos” to get them as clean as possible. First you degrease the cat without water, then you rinse the cat and degrease him with water. Then you get the woolite and after that a lot of water. When that is done we get a conditioner and flush that out again and finally you take a special shampoo which differs per cat (color). And last but certainly not least you put the cat under the shower until all soap is gone and that takes 10-15 minutes. After that you only need a lot of towels and a livingroom heated up to 23C(elcius).

At the moment the three of them are very relaxed and are sleeping somewhere.

Hi everyone,

This morning Red decided to take a rest in the catswheel. If you take a close look you can see his nice big feet 😉

He is doing very well given the fact that he is in our house for a short time. He is now preparing for the Cats and Tulips show this weekend.

We will of course keep you updated on how he is doing, so stay tuned in.
